There's too many Leinster players in the squad at the moment who haven't won a Champions Cup and I know it always comes back to the Champions Cup but they can't afford to use the lame duck or whatever you want to call it as an excuse for another season to pass them by. matched

that next season when Leo leaves, there probably will be a revert back to what we would consider the old Leinster, if it is what we believe, Philippe Contopomi to come in. matched

That in itself sends out mixed messages, but the players just have to take the responsibility this season and not allow... matched

any excuses because too often in the last few years they've lost or they've allowed really good opportunities slip their grasp I think of a guy like Hugo Keenan who was in tears in Bilbao at the end of the hammering against Bordeaux back in May like he's never won a Champions Cup with Leinster so that has to be the main motivation for Leinster and I think the players the onus is on the players I think to seize it and whatever comes next season if it's under Kontopomi I think will come but they can't allow that to be a distraction this season there's too much of matched

One little nugget that I picked up last week from a chat that I had with Charlie Tector was that like I know he's only 24, but he was saying it was the toughest preseason that he's ever done, that it was noticeably different to any of the other preseasons that he's been involved in. matched

Now, granted, he's only one of the younger players. matched

But he said that the coaches, it was designed to make them mentally tougher, which I thought was a fascinating insight into the messaging that's been going on in Leinster throughout pre-season. matched
