You know, there's cautious optimism about

uh darren radish but they're excited that they got a high profile defenseman who can blast it from the point and then you listen to the draft experts and they're all pretty thrilled giving an a-plus to the work that that chaikin is as scouts did at the draft you know it's been a long time since they got 10 picks so they're restocking the cupboards

while simultaneously adding some intriguing pieces for next year.

And plus he's, he's firmly in the mix when you're talking about a trade for Wierenski or, you know, some of the bigger free agents that are still out there like Patrick Kane and Sergei Bobrovsky.

I mean, these guys have their warts to be sure, but the Leafs feel like a player again.

And again,

Having no first rounder in 27 or 28, the course of action is clear.

They have to go for it.

Those two years are the final two years that we know for sure that Matthews is under contract with them.

So it feels like there's a plan.

And I felt like we went through a year, year and a half, where we weren't sure what the plan is.

At least now, Leaf Nation knows what the plan is.

And with that has come incredible optimism.

And it felt like a celebration in Buffalo Friday night, to be sure.

I mean, Patrick Kane intrigues me just because he's still, I know he's old, but he's still pretty close to a point of game.

And their top nine needs bodies, right?

When you consider all the guys they've lost, Lawton, Nick Waugh, Bobby McMahon,

Max Domi, we don't know if or when he's coming back.

Like, they need some established guys.
