You make him feel like they're wanted so they can relax a lot earlier.

That also means that the relationship's a bit different.

So picture this.

Do you reckon a player would say that to... What Lombard said to Petrarca would say that to their father?

Would they say it to their brother?

So you look at the old school was the father... The senior player's the father mentality.

There's no way in hell you're going to say that to a father.

But if it was your brother, would you say it?

Yeah, you would because you're fighting in the backyard.

You've got that bond.

You've got that relationship.

You joke around.

That's the mindset of these younger players.

Now, these senior players are looked at as if they're brothers to them, not like the father figure.

So a little bit more, there's a little bit more leeway.

And it's all because they want them to be as comfortable as they possibly can to get the best out of them early on because these kids that are coming in are elite talents.

They've been nurtured since they were 13, 14, 15 to when they get to the AFL, they're ready to play straight away.

And then the clubs understand that.

But this is where they sometimes, they cross the line when it comes to a young fella and the respect they have back to the other one.
