And I'm like, OK, mate, before you sign anything, you should probably just, you know, get a bit of advice just so you understand what this is.
He's like, oh, it just seems like a good opportunity to own something.
So, yeah, I'm going to probably do it anyway.
I'm like, OK.
So I think we probably need as a country a fair bit more education about that.
We might be a little bit behind, but I mean, with the work that you guys are doing and other people leading from the front doing it, hopefully it becomes a bit more common.
There's definitely a theme of...
we're seeing in our business where maybe we're doing a bit more marketing about it but people are getting in touch to inquire about potentially buying into the business that they work for and they're having those conversations with their employer and you know as i said at the top you know aging demographic of business owners some of them are starting to think about getting out and retiring and who is the person coming through so i think that's going to be a like a critical infrastructure piece of
that we're going to have to provide.
I think as well, there'll be people listening and they're parents run businesses, you need to front run it and have some of these conversations with your parents because on the other side of that, I had someone walk into my accounting office in a small rural town once and
and it was a letter and it was a letter from their accountant saying hey we're closing down you need to find a new accountant and that was their exit plan it's just basically like we're done yeah so there was no selling of that business nothing and sometimes we're backed into a corner due to health reasons or things like that where you know that has to be or that becomes the outcome so i think if you're listening to this and your parents have a business and they're not talking about succession then you know i think i've always said oh my parents got everything figured out but like a lot of the times
you know, that generation can be a bit avoidant and I'll worry about that later.
Yeah, I mean, if I think about it personally, I normally have a goal to want to have options.
And I think a lot of us deep down, that's what we are investing for or saving for or thinking about our future for or moving out of our jobs for to create different options for ourselves.
I did read some interesting data out of Gallup International.
I think 81% of people are disengaged with their work.
81%?
Yeah, that scares me a lot.
And I won't swear, but like a lot, you know.
And I think no wonder people are grabbing on to these concepts when you don't like what you're doing.
