Over the course of the interview, Amanda kind of described a fairly frightening and disturbing scene in places, which was at times quite difficult for her to talk about or to focus on for long periods of time.
She included what she described as a visible lust for violence and the fact that she believed that he was perhaps getting off on her visible discomfort at some of the things that were happening during this encounter.
With hindsight and having looked back at the interactions that they shared beyond just their sexual encounters, during which Watts would go on these diatribes about his partner and saying that she was ruining his life and stealing his money and things of that nature, she believed that Chris was desperately dissatisfied with his life, wanted to escape his life, the life that he'd built with Shanann and blamed her for it.
And in that conversation,
That was one of the questions I asked her, you know, why did you keep going back?
Why did you keep that channel of communication open when you were left frightened during portions of that interaction?
And she said at the time, because of the difficulty of the circumstances in her personal life, the difficulty she was going through with her ex-husband, not seeing her children, a prescription pain medication addiction that she was dealing with, she was in a spiral of self-destruction.

that mindset, you often seek the things that perhaps aren't good for you.
And what was that very thing she feels now?
Yeah, of course.
I think Amanda probably wouldn't use the word friendship now, at least, but it did seem that they had built some sort of rapport where it was a mutual kind of therapeutic space to bitch and moan about their significant ex-others.
During these interactions, what Amanda said Chris would do was, to quote, say some of the most awful things.
He would call his nameless ex, supposedly, a bitch, a gold digger, and said that her main objective in life seemed to be to make his a misery.
And after a while, that started to grate on Amanda, though she had her own gripes to share about her own situation.
She grew tired of listening to it over time and gradually distanced herself from what's largely because of that.
She said, I can listen to so much, but it sits wrong with me when a man talks about the mother of his children like that.
It's difficult to say.
I think he'd almost created a second life for himself, a fantasy of what he wanted mixed with the things that he couldn't yet confront.
As we know, Shanon wasn't his ex-wife.
