Three things in the news in the space of a few days all about guess what?
Sperm.
This might seem unlikely, but there are people working on sperm and fertility and how sperm working all sorts and uh it's a bit like busses.
You hear nothing for ages and then three things come along.
Well this week is a bit like that because there's been three big announcements.
Now it's partly because of a big conference.
In London on reproductive biology, where some of this stuff was announced, hit the headlines, and you may have seen the headlines.
They're using the word spermageddon.
That is a good word for you.
Now, what do they mean by that?
Well, over the past, I would say, five years or so.
There's evidence that sperm counts are falling in men.
Now, this turned out to be sort of a bit controversial.
Were they really falling?
Were they being measured properly?
But now, several studies agree sperm counts are falling.
And they've halved.
Now there's a striking thing from the early 1970s.
They've halved since then.
