As I mentioned before, we have received a lot of feedback from you asking us to talk.

About what's been happening in Gary, Indiana.

There has been a lack

of news coverage and attention by the national media and by our federal government on what's happening there.

And it speaks to so many of the divides and issues that we've been dealing with in this country for decades.

Power was finally restored to that community just last month.

But the freakish storm that ripped through Indiana and parts of Illinois revealed a lot about how fast extreme weather can get out of control and create nightmare scenarios for people in its path.

And also the unfortunate but all too real disparities in how different communities are able to recover.

I talked with Aja Bridges, who lives in Gary, Indiana, and scrambled.

Not just to keep her family safe during the blackout, but also to keep them fed.
