It's because as you go down that cost curve of making things better and cheaper, you unlock more and more market opportunities for that product.
So the space shuttle was able to unlock government and maybe some expensive commercial access to space.
Falcon 9 allowed you to develop a satellite communications network affordably.
That was around about $1,000 per kilogram price point.
If we can get down to the $100 per kilogram price point or a $10 per kilogram price point, does space-based manufacturing make total sense to do in orbit?
Can we make things cheaper and better in that orbit?
Can we start developing data center compute?
Can we start developing mining or bases on the moon or laboratories there which might perform better?
