A source not authorized to speak publicly confirms to NPR that Hegseth ordered two strikes on an alleged drug boat on September 2nd, the second attack killing the survivors of the first.
The Washington Post first reported that Hegseth gave a spoken order for the military to kill everyone on board the vessel.

The military has carried out at least 21 strikes on alleged drug boats as part of Operation Southern Spear, a campaign that the Trump administration says is aimed at tackling drug trafficking.

They join around 15,000 service members that are already in the region.
