And I'm speaking with Calina about the psychiatric condition she's lived with for much of her life.

It's called dissociative identity disorder, which was once known as multiple personality disorder.

Professor Warwick Middleton is the director of the Trauma and Association Unit at Belmont Hospital in Brisbane.

He explains the role that he believes childhood trauma plays in the development of DID.
