We raced each other a fair amount and like we're pretty friendly.

And I just messaged her being like, Hey, like first ever ultra race, like wanted to know like how you did it with nutrition and stuff last year.

Like I can't really find

like enough like I'm struggling to find water fountains or I'm struggling to find resupply points and she was like, Well, I just carried everything for the whole thing.

So I was like, well I guess I'll try and do that.

And that's what I did.

So I had a really, really heavy bike.

And on those first few climbs, like Cynthia didn't have a hydration vest and she didn't seem to have much on her bike at all.

Like she'd gone for a really minimal setup.

And we were like riding together on this climb.

And I was just thinking, God, how much harder am I having to work?

My bike and my back, and my back was hurting.

I was thinking, oh god, like have I made a really bad decision here?

But then later in the course, when like
