I need to not faff because that's how people win ultra races.

And this is obviously not from my personal experience, but from what I've heard, it's all about like having really limited like elapsed time over moving time.

Like that really comes into play.

But like I'm not the biggest faffer, but I'm a bit of a faffer.

And I know that like if I stop on the bike.

there's a chance I'm gonna spend a little bit too long doing something unnecessary or like faffing.

And that was like a big thing that I had no idea if I'd be able to do in practice is actually not faff for 26 hours or like however long.

So that was part of it as well.

Is I was just thinking, like, they're all gonna be absolute machines and not faff at all.

And I'm gonna faff.

So I'm gonna lose time to them in those sections.

And I also thought in terms of pacing, they all would have the experience of like knowing how to pace something of that length.

Whereas I was coming from, well, this is just longer than what I've ever done.

So I just need to go slower, which I did.

And like, especially early on.

So like we started

in like a huge bunch, which I nearly missed the bunch.

I didn't realise that it was going to start with a huge bunch.

And I just hopped the barrier to be like, oh, there's a lot of people looking like they're going to set off.
