Always a pleasure to be here.

I have read her two previous novels.

I haven't read the short story collection Daddy.

Um which yes is a fabulous title.

Terrifying.

But I mean she she is a looming figure in the literary world in terms of being like a literary it girl because her first novel, The Girls Sold for two million dollars, famously when she was only 25.

And it was about the girls in the Manson family.

That kind of lent her a kind of literary celebrity that's haunted her in a way.

And then her next novel,

Was about a young woman who was an escort, moving in very wealthy circles, and then kind of always being uninvited.

And so the first two novels are about young women and young womanhood, and they're kind of sold as, and I hate this phrase, but commercial women's fiction.

You know, they're the kind of books that would have photographs of girls wearing nice dresses on the cover.

And then this book, Switzy, is like a complete departure in terms of the production.

protagonist and what it's about, but also in terms of the way that it's been sold.

She's now being remarketed as a a literary author.

And it's it's a feat of marketing.

I'm so impressed by whoever did it.

Yeah, you're initially kind of plunged into a fragmenting consciousness and you're trying to understand if that's gonna be the whole book or you know, why it is that this mind seems to be unraveling as it revels.

I think pretty quickly I clock what was probably going on and and it's not a spoiler to say, even though the word's never used in the book, that this is m a man who has Alzheimer's and his his mind is losing its grip on reality.
