And that's at the core of this.
And it's different to the book that you guys reviewed, but also not so dissimilar in the fact that it is just very sad.
Very, very sad.
Sad but not bleak, exactly.
And it's just plotty.
I love that, you know, because I often read a lot of literary fiction where nothing happens and I like that too.
But this is great.
I was like, how fun.
Yes.
Okay.
So I've got two recommendations this week.
Neither of them...
are new.
The first one is Aileen Morton Robinson's Talking Up to the White Woman, which I think came out in 2000 or 2002.
It's nonfiction and it's an excellent book by a feminist scholar who's First Nations who is basically
dismantling all the ways that Australian white feminism is bad.
But she writes in this, it's a scholarly book but it's conversational and I feel like anyone can read it.
It was republished a few years back after its 20-year anniversary and with a new kind of forward and it just becomes more and more pertinent, I feel, in this country.
I haven't read another book like it that's just so...
thorough.
