They were encouraging me and my brother being like, well, don't you want to be able to get on a school bus and go to school with your friends and all of these things?
You know, fast forward 24 years on the youngest member of Congress ever elected in U.S.
history.
And, you know, all of a sudden, you know, when I'm hiring staff, you know, I'd be going through, I see that, oh, they have, you know, a 4.0 grade point average, all of these things.
And then I have to start asking about what their education was, trying to figure out what their values were.
And I was always just kind of a blank book.
I didn't really know what I was going to get.
But if I saw a kid was homeschooled,
oh, I know, okay, this person's a self-starter.
They weren't taught how to memorize things and be factory workers and how to just meet things on a good timeline.
What they were taught is the necessity to learn, to be able to push yourself, to be able to keep yourself committed to a time schedule, not have to be micromanaged at all times.
And so the parents who were doing this in the early 2000s, my hat is off to them.
My mother is the bravest, wisest woman I've ever met in my entire life.
And she's responsible for many of the skills I have, whether it's speaking or smiling or being able to do whatever it is that I've been able to do in my life.
She's incredible.
She's actually right behind the camera I'm looking at right now.
So I'm really happy to have her down here in Florida.
She's escaping the cold.
But I'll tell you, being homeschooled gives you such a different perspective on things
I feel like so many people who went to public school or people who went to traditional colleges like that, there was so much brainwashing that happened.
