Spanberger is Virginia's first female governor.

Spanberger previously said she hopes she can work with the Republican-led federal government, especially given Virginia is home to many federal employees.

But she also said she's ready to stand up for Virginia and its economy.

Spanberger is succeeding now former Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin.
