I was moved out of town.

I had basically 48 hours to pack up and go.

Because I'd never seen shame and trauma and distress in anyone before.

And I saw it in these men.

And I saw it.

Once you've seen it, you notice it in other boys around town and you start to piece together that there's a lot more going on in this town than you care to know.

And when I first arrived there, I described it to somebody as being like, you know, the Stepford Wives.

Everyone was so jolly and so kind and so nice and so happy.

And the underbelly of that was so repugnant.

The thing that really bothers me about what happened in Katanning and me being in Katanning was there were other hostels in Katanning at the time that...

there was other sexual abuse going on.

And we only found out about that a lot later.

But there was a mission called Maribank, and it was for Indigenous kids.

And we know that there were children at the same time as Dennis was at the hostel.

That was the government hostel, remember?

He was a government employee.

While he was offending, there was offending going on 22 kilometres away at the Aboriginal mission.
