equalizers and ensure that everybody has a fair shot and opportunity.

And as I brought it up before and I'll bring it up today, I'm unsure with this financial compensation part of the discussion came apart because we did just vote as a city council to give ourselves a raise, right?

City council members and the mayor got a pay bump

and the FY 2027 budget, right?

And so that conversation of financial compensation feels very obscure to me to be had in this room right now.

I'll just add that it's like we're arguing about, not arguing, we're debating about...

assumption or some preconceived guarantee when there's not a guarantee, right?

There is as much possibility for the mayor pro tem to become one of the top five candidates as well as to not become one of the top five candidates, right?

And so I just want to put that out there that into the public and I want to be put on the record.

There is not a guarantee on who gets appointed interim mayor.

That is point blank period, right?

We all have, as we voted on, the right to nominate up to three people in this process.

And those chances of whether Mayor Pro Tem is one of those top three people, that's not guaranteed and it's not written.
