It seems like his language is intentionally challenging, maybe even apparently paradoxical, but I'm just curious how a positive emotion like joy fits into Shantadeva's account if he's concerned with avoiding clinging.
Uh why not something more more neutral neutral?
We want to avoid positive, we want to avoid negative emotions.
We we just want to want some sort of neutral affect.
Um how how does yeah, so how does joy fit?
fit in and and why are we wanting to cultivate something positive?
Wouldn't that make us potentially cling to even ethically uh motivated joy?

So and and wisdom of course is uh is a big a big chapter, big topic.

But maybe the thing to to focus on, and and you can draw draw this out as as you like, is the um what you call the metaphysical nihilism objection.
As we've talked about so far, Shantideva's uh metaphysics and ethics are interconnected here.
And the being able to see uh
reality as it is is important for him in in cultivating our ourselves as ethical, virtuous um beings.
