Let's start in and we'll just go chapter by chapter.
We can always back up a little bit and and dig into the background as as necessary.
Your first chapter distinguishes Guosyang's notion of freedom from some ideas in Anglo-European as you characterize them, ideas of of free will.
And so one question
question that people familiar with philosophy might have when they're coming to think about freedom with Chinese philosophers is, well, what do they say about free will, right?
Um, why, why do they not talk about free will if they don't?
Why is there no quote unquote free will problem in Chinese philosophy?
Uh or at least not in the way that it appeared in Anglo-European philosophy.
And I know it's a complicated uh historical
Story, but um what is your sense of the relationship between freedom in Guo Xiang's work and free will in the
broadly Anglo European philosophical tradition.
So so the idea is that um Chinese philosophers, do they not have a conception of uh a god or gods?
