And then maybe we can talk about Guo Xiang and how you understand him.
So what's going on in the Zhuangzi with politics and ethics?
What are some of the things that he says that lead to this understanding where um of kind of a maybe a quietism or a passive uh approach to life, the the what you're calling a happy slave.
So so what is it what does he say that leads people to interpret him that way?
Right.
And so so you're taking a position which isn't just saying, Oh, Guo Xiang is an interesting thinker to look at.
It's uh he's really gotten the the Zhuangzi right in some important ways.
And so if we're going to engage with the the Zhuangzi, um so maybe let me kind of push this a little bit more and say for people modern philosophers uh who want to learn about Chinese philosophy and want to engage with the the Zhuangzi,
The idea is, well, you don't just pick up the the Zhuangzi on its own, you pick up the Zhuangzi along with Guo Xiang, uh, and that's how you're able to understand the Zhuangzi's out.
Accurate?
Right.
Yeah.
That's an important point too, is that a lot of the translations that we have of
you know, Chinese texts or in m my area, Indian philosophical texts are through the lens of certain commentators, even if that's not explicitly stated in the translation, right?
Good.
So yeah, we'll we'll return to this as as we go along, but maybe let's talk about chapter two, um, where you really dive into what you call the logic of convergence.
And so here um
We have a few different concepts to talk about.
So one is this idea of Neo Taoism that we haven't really uh delved into yet.
And then we have this idea of a convergence of opposites.
