If you bring in a for-profit entity, you can't operate under that not-for-profit status, so you need to set up a new league.
So you'd set up a proprietary limited company,
And the states and their new owners would take franchises in that new league.
Now, from Cricket Australia's perspective, that's a bit messy because...
We've said previously, Gerard, the future of cricket is going to be test cricket and 2020 cricket.
One day cricket, it'll probably disappear.
So 2020 cricket is a big part of what Cricket Australia has to sell.
So they want to carve out lots of areas there that they can retain control over to maintain their investment, their overview of 2020 cricket.
So things like expansion.
So they're going to be eight franchises.
Will this new company be able to sell extra franchises?
Maybe to Canberra, maybe to India in 20 years' time.
It might take 20 years to get to this stage.
Will they have the power to do that?
When will they play?
Will they be locked into a specific period?
