If you brought in private owners, I think they'd need a voice.

That voice needs to be moderated.

There needs to be a very strong Cricket Australia presence with the old saying that...

You can't beat control.

Australia would need to have a lot of control here.

That gets difficult if you're only selling some of the franchises.

So you bring in, you have your fund, you're going to have a new salary cap.

Everyone plays under the same salary cap, but if New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland haven't sold, do they get a drawdown on the money that's been invested by the three states that have to fund their new salary cap while they still sit on 100% of the equity in their franchises?

So it's messy.

It's messy if they do that.

If you could solve both of those issues and get rid of things like there's a premium for international players in the BBL, they get about $100,000 more than the top Australian players.

Get rid of that.

The Australians deserve to be paid as much as everyone else.

If we could get some of those issues...

out of the way and we were convinced that the money was going to be a long-term investment for the future of the game, like the Australian Olympic Committee, then I think if you could get all of the teams involved in it, I think it's got a chance.

It's a legitimate concern, Gerard, but if you look at the people who bought the 100, it's a mixture of Indian IPL teams, a tech company from Silicon Valley, I think, maybe an England-based investor or tech company.

They're not all Indian teams.

Now, here, they may well be, and that's an issue.

And that's why we talk about governance and control and that sort of thing.

Cricket Australia needs to keep a high level of control over that if there is going to be private owners, largely Indian based there.
