So for me, that's part of the task is helping guys find the joy in hockey.
The NHL is a pretty good league.
by all accounts.
It's a pretty special place to play.
There's only 700 some odd players that get to do it.
So it's an absolute privilege.
So giving the guys the understanding and helping them understand that this is a fun league to be in and you have to enjoy the moments and there will be some good times, there will be some bad times, but the privilege of being an NHL hockey player
is all the motivation and all the joy you need to come into the rink every day.
I keep talking about we're going to grind, we're going to work, we're going to evolve.
that's all rooted in finding the joy in the game and helping the guys have fun out there and enjoy practices and enjoy the grind and enjoy the brace.
So that, you know, I don't think the guys really need me to come in and give a rah-rah speech and try to motivate them.
It's helping them find the joy that's already here in being an NHL hockey player.
When I think about it, I understand the implications and how special it is.
And very similar to when I was here as a player, I gave the same answer.
My first thought and my foremost thought is that
Just want to be the best coach that I can be at the time as I wanted to be the best player I can be not the best coach of South Asian descent That continues to be my mindset
When I step back and look at the big picture and you put it into context, I see the importance and I understand the importance that for the South Asian community, it is a big deal.
And I have incredible support from them out in Abbotsford.
Constantly people saying how proud they were to see somebody of my background getting to the heights that I was.
So I understand the importance of it, but I don't put a great deal of emphasis on it.
