Even if it's not improving your mood, it might be sort of calming to your nervous system.

Yeah, so I'm pretty confident in these findings.

And no one has ID'd this effect as being something that's not replicable.

So many, many other labs have replicated these effects.

You're right, the sample size was small.

relatively small so we had about 40 participants in that study it was within subjects so you that's like equal to like a sample of like 80 participants between subjects but yeah not not millions of people not thousands of people

There have been other studies too outside of the laboratory where they look at quantifying green space around people's homes and their schools and look at kids' working memory performance and how they're doing in school.

And they find that children that live in neighborhoods that have more green space have better attention and working memory, even when you control for things like

age, education and income of their parents.

There are some other really interesting studies that were done in public housing projects in Chicago.

These are, you know, not desirable places to live.

Not the greenest spaces.

I've been there.

Not the greenest spaces.

In fact, they've demolished many of these facilities.

And what's interesting about these facilities is that the families were randomly assigned to different apartments.

So so it's almost like a

controlled experiment and what these researchers looked at.

This is Ming Kuo and Bill Sullivan from the University of Illinois.

They looked at views out of the window in these public housing projects and also quantifying sort of with, you know, satellite imagery, how much green space was around these these public housing projects.
