phage or other types of displays, and you're looking for the needle in the haystack, the one that will attach itself to the drug target and have the intended effect, the promise of AI is that with generative AI, rather than looking for the needle in the haystack, we can design the needle.
Much as you would prompt Sora to make a movie for you, you enter a prompt about you want the AI to make a movie of two puppies playing on the beach,
Here you can say, you can prompt the AIs that we're generating and others are generating to say, I'd like to make an antibody, a biologic, that will attach itself, that will bind to the target protein in just the right way to have the intended effect.
So that's the second step, applying AI there.
The third step of applying AI to matching drugs to patients, identifying which patients are most likely to respond, involves other kinds of data, data on longitudinal data sets that follow the progression of disease in patients matched to various kinds of phenotypic markers.
And the promise there is that with the right kinds of data and the right amounts, we should be able to create patient representation models where, again, we can ask in silico,
Which patients are the ones most likely to respond to the drug to help guide clinical trial development and increase the success rate there?
So that's where AI is being applied in those three areas.
Different companies are focusing on different aspects of the process.
In the case of Isomorphic and ourselves,
where a lot of the focus there is on the second one, making drugs.
We've come from different areas.
Isomorphic started working on a certain class of therapeutics.
As you know, there are different therapeutic modalities.
There are small molecules, pills, if you will.
There are biologics, antibodies.
There are other kinds of modalities, gene therapy, cell therapy, and so forth.
We've been focusing ourselves on large molecule therapeutics, on antibody therapeutics, because that's where we have made the most progress in terms of developing the technology.
Isomorphic started with small molecules.
Most companies that are working on one modality are interested in working in other modalities as well.
