I have money for the first time.

Should I buy a whole new wardrobe?

Should I start dining out every weekend and maybe travel to all the places that I've been wanting to travel to?

So I would say it was like the usual experience kind of reeled in by my background of like

I know what it's like to not have a lot of money, and I know that this is a lot of money compared to that, and I should probably not just spend it all.

Hi, Allison.

Thank you for having me.

I'm so excited to be here.

Yeah, it's sort of in the name.

I started First Gen Living right in my early 20s when I was trying to figure out how to be the first in my family to have graduated college and then be navigating, in my case, what I call the nonprofit industrial complex in New York City.

So just trying to figure out like,

corporate world, white collar world, and that also came with trying to figure out money.

Got my first paycheck.

My parents had never been paid money plus benefits, money plus deductions.

What did this all mean?

So this was around 2018, 2019 that I started getting into this space.

And First Gen Living came out in 2020 when everybody was starting their Instagram pages for like their hobbies.

And you saw people starting pages about baking and cooking and knitting and roller skating.

And the only thing that was on my mind was money.

So I started mine on personal finance.
