If we're going to push to do everything domestically, we have to build that infrastructure, people as well as places.

We need people that know how to weld and do, you know, piping and and work as a type of plumber in some of these regulated spaces.

I have a company that literally could not find the right type of welders.

You can build all the buildings you want, but if you don't have the right talent to actually turn them on and run them, it it's it's all for naught.

I'm really excited to be here.

Um, besides the gorgeous weather all week, um it was

You know, it's it's uh it's what bio always is.

I was this is my 18th or 19th bio convention.

So um wow but it's still as exciting than ever.

Yeah, no, I definitely feel uh a lot older uh than I did 20 years ago when I realized what number I was at.

But you know, bio always really just reinforces um how interconnected the global life sciences environment is and just really how we are as as uh you know society.

But um

Conversations for me really tended to be broader than any one issue one issue.

And I know we'll get into the China discussion later, which is definitely something that was a hot topic, but um there was a clear focus on US competitiveness and how we work to strengthen domestic research and uh manufacturing, clinical development, uh workforce capacity without creating unnecessary barriers uh to collaboration or investment.

And also continue to maintain the uh predictability that we need as an industry.

From a Georgia perspective, I'd say that conversation really matters because we're really seeing um

Companies make real investments in manufacturing and research and innovation in our state.

I think that uh everybody knows that uh UCB announced they their US headquarters have been in Atlanta for forever, but um they've announced their their domestic manufacturing is going to scale in North Atlanta and Gwinnett County.

And so um this is really critical for us, the the that conversation around US competitiveness.
