In the lawsuit, Paxton alleges the NCAA has engaged in misleading practices and falsely markets sporting events that include transgender athletes as women's competition. Paxton says this violates the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

Sonia Aleman, who teaches a Selena-centered course at the University of Texas at San Antonio, says the singer's bicultural and bilingual identity resonates with her students.
