Well, I can tell you just from experience of having been in that White House press room and as Cal has as well, that it's all about access.

So you see the daily briefings and you see when, you know, Trump, well, he has them often in the Oval Office and where he will berate a reporter and berate them.

But the way you really get access is there's a little narrow corridor that runs down behind the press room, you know, where the briefings are held, close to the Oval Office.

And that's where there are about 20 or 30 different people working.

And that's where you get the interviews set up with people.

And that's where you get the off the record stuff.

And they're all afraid that if they do anything or say anything or, you know, support one of their colleagues who are being rounded on and insulted,

that their access will be limited and that, you know, Caroline Lever won't be as friendly to them or the half dozen people who work underneath her if they want to get a word with Trump that it might be refused.

So, it's a really awful way to work and I don't, for the life of me, I agree with you.

When, we'll say, Caitlin Collins or any reporter asks a question and Trump turns around, particularly when it's women,

and starts insulting them and their appearance and saying they're a horrible person and they're ugly and all this, why the next reporter doesn't just ask the same question?

Because that's how he evades answering the question.

And at least if they won't stand up for their colleagues and say to Trump, I object to you speaking to my colleague like that.

It is unfair and unprofessional.

We're just doing our job.

that at least they would pick up the baton and ask the question so that Trump isn't able to duck it.

But they won't do that either.

So I find it really frustrating.

I was briefly a member of the White House Press Correspondents Association.

I turned in my membership because I really don't.
