I've always, from even being at the City of Hollywood and here, I've always understood that we have, as you said, it's significant discretion, but it's not no discretion.

In other words, we do have a say on this.

And if we see something that piques our interest, like this does,

We absolutely can be making note of it, asking for justification, asking for let them know our concerns and go from there.

But I remember in 2022, the legislature passed a law that unfortunately and over the objections of most of the counties gave the sheriffs pretty much complete unilateral discretion to move dollars inside their budget.

And I agree with what Senator Rich and Commissioner Davis said.

Mr. Nelson did raise an important point that we need to discuss.

I just don't think it has to be as part of this.

I agree with what the Vice Mayor said, and I think we should pass it the way it is, but still come back and discuss the policy.
