I've spoken to the Prime Minister of Greenland, and there's a full commitment, not surprisingly, as is appropriate, of NATO partners to the security of Greenland.

As you mentioned, mine is the first visit of a Canadian Prime Minister to China in nearly a decade.

The world has changed much since that last visit.

And I believe the progress that we have made in the partnership sets us up well for the new world order.

Mark Carney said that his government's relationship with China was actually more predictable than that with the US, and that the fruits of that predictability had panned out in this trip. You know, years ago it would have been unthinkable to hear a Canadian prime minister speaking like this. Thus is the nature of the meltdown that Canada has had with the Trump administration.

Well, it's interesting. Mark Carney was asked about this in his press conference today. And he said similar things to what you've heard from the likes of the Australian government and the British government, for that matter, that you can trade and you can have that sort of relationship and you can have these other areas where you completely disagree with one another. He spoke about these security guardrails. So, in other words, Canada and China, they can cooperate on renewable energy. They can have trade. And yet still...

There would be other areas where they frankly don't trust one another when it comes to cyber security or what have you. But then again, you know, these countries, I mean, do they also trust the Trump administration? This is the problem when you're talking about things like.

the US threatening invading Greenland, what Mark Carney also said is we're a NATO member. So, you know, they can't abide by the US making threats to a fellow NATO member. And Canada is supposedly the US's closest ally. So all of this is breaking down to tell the truth. And it's going to be very interesting in the coming years where it all falls, because

I think many analysts would say that Donald Trump and his government have considerably underestimated the damage that their attacks on Western allies and the like have had, and the possibility for that to really break down all of the West. And this is just a huge gift to Xi Jinping. He's been able to forge these relationships with countries, closer relationships he never would have been able to forge.

Yeah, and you can see China's messages to the world. It's like, look, we are this bastion of stability, and you compare us to the US, and people are often making this comparison. Chinese businesses are growing, and it comes to the tech sector. They're kicking all these goals, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and the comparison is with what, frankly, is seen as chaos.

putting tariffs on supposed allies and the like. And so, yeah, it's been brilliant for Beijing in terms of forging these new alliances. I mean, India is another good example. There's a country which should be much closer to the US than it is. Instead, what's it doing? It's getting closer to China. And again, this is all just win, win, win, win, win for the Chinese government.

China ties nearly evaporated after 2018 when Canada arrested a high-profile executive with the Chinese telecom firm Huawei at the behest of the U.S.

But in Canada's first state visit in eight years to China, Prime Minister Mark Carney struck a cordial tone with Chinese leaders Xi Jinping and the country's premier Li Qiang.

And a new partnership with Beijing this week will revive a bilateral trade commission and set up new committees to explore business collaboration in agriculture, energy and finance.

Canada and China have reached a preliminary but landmark trade agreement to remove trade barriers and reduce tariffs.

It's expected that within three years, this agreement will drive considerable Chinese investment in Canada's auto sector, creating good careers in Canada and accelerating our progress

towards a net zero future and the auto industry of the future.
