he's still a very talented player though and especially I think considering the Mateus Fernandes pursuit you look at these two players they've got similar qualities they both like to pass the ball forward a lot they both win a lot of duels in midfield obviously Santos hasn't had as much Premier League experience as Mateus Fernandes has but still somebody with some experience of playing in the Premier League knows what English football is like perhaps didn't always have the opportunities at Chelsea last season that

the likes of Fernandes did at West Ham or Anderson has over the past couple of years at Nottingham Forest but the same similar profile of player and maybe a market opportunity I think to use that phrase that I'm sure United fans are really sick of hearing because that was Mateus Fernandes was supposed to be a market opportunity until suddenly he wasn't I think David's spot on in that they will be very disciplined they will be very prudent about the way that they go about their business and

I think that will cause some frustration to fans because there has been a sense that this midfield rebuild is so important.

It has been so long anticipated that you'd want that big marquee signing to come in.

But the names that are being linked, perhaps Chewamania side and there's some debate there as to whether Real Madrid will be willing to sell.

That's the market that we're in at the moment now.

We'd be talking about this inflationary midfield market where just every single option that certainly that United are being linked with seems to be in that 60 to 80 million pound bracket.

And that really, I think, would be at the top range of what they would go and pay for a midfielder.

So Santos maybe is more available at a cheaper price than that.

keeping an eye on certainly last summer as well so there's a knowledge of the player there there's an appreciation of the player it's still very early days I think it wouldn't necessarily be the worst signing in the world to make but he doesn't have that quite as much as experience or certainly hasn't had the hype around him as the other players that they've been linked with and targeted with and
