You put so much energy into a case, and then all of a sudden, the jurors give the worst news possible to you.

Now, I don't know if the lawyers were expecting it, but at a minimum, you're putting all that energy towards trying to get an acquittal.

Alternatively, you're thinking, you know, manslaughter.

And then all of a sudden,

Boom, the worst case scenario.

And now you have to get up and now fight for his life.

It is insane.

I just, they would never do that here.

I've never heard of anything like that.

It's just cruel.

Just so the audience knows.

It is interesting that in Texas that the defendant before trial has the right to elect whether they want a judge or a jury to impose a sentence.

So I was under the assumption that it's the judge that decides the sentence.
