Well, number one, the biggest mistake I made is it wasn't televised.
If it had been televised, then we wouldn't have the urban legends of what the case involved.
The people who weren't in the courtroom would tell you that this case fell apart during the entire time.
What didn't fall apart was the hatred, the animus,
and this idea that he was a bad, bad man that needed to be punished.
That did not fade away.
But if you had seen the evidence in real time, and there was over 100 witnesses, and when the kind of cherry picking of what the urban legends are were debunked in real time by what actually happened in the courtroom.
So the first thing I would suggest to whoever retries this case is you have to have
a camera in the courtroom.
DeLucchi told me that on day seven of deliberations because the foreman of that jury came into the chambers and said he didn't feel like he could go on in deliberations.
He felt threatened.
He felt like the verdict he wanted to render would not happen.
fit the community's expectation.
That's on the record.
And instead of the judge, this is one of the angriest I've ever gotten with a superior court judge.
Instead of bringing in the juror who was threatening the foreperson, who was both a doctor and a lawyer, which is why I wanted the guy.
