I don't think everyone should be running marathons, but everyone should be physically active.
And the question then is, what's the best form of physical activity for you?
You know, the best exercise is the exercise you do.
Well, there's always interest in the marathon and ultra marathon events, you know, fundraising runs.
The two-hour record for the marathon's just been broken.
There's always interest in the marathon because of the sort of history of it.
And it's not dissimilar from a similar craze in running that occurred in the early 70s.
It started in the US.
So certainly there's a lot of enthusiasm about marathons.
I think for me, I don't think everyone should be running marathons, but everyone should be physically active.
And the question then is, what's the best form of physical activity for you?
For some, it may be a marathon.
For others, it may be something else.
But the best exercise is the exercise you do.
That's what people should focus on.
What do they enjoy doing?
What exercise brings them happiness and enjoyment?
There's certainly been a lot of discussion around health and well-being, overweight and obesity, the extent to which physical activity together with the other foods that you eat influences your overall health.
There's no question from the epidemiology
that regular physical activity and increased energy expenditure improves healthspan.
