So I guess the next question that I'm wondering about is, well, how does one begin to respond to these obstacles? matched

And so it seems like one way one might respond to the obstacle in the case of the external world is to say something like matched

So might one way of framing this discussion with the sceptic be something like this. matched

You know, the sceptic says, Well, you claim to know that there's a hand in front of you, but it's possible, for all you know, that you're a brain in a vat, and in that case, you wouldn't know that there was a hand in front of you. matched

So you need to know that you're not in a brain in a vat in order to know there's a hand in front of you. matched

And the reply is something like, sure, it's possible that I'm a brain nevat and it's possible that I'm not a brain nevat. matched

And in the case where I'm not a brain nevat, I do know that there's a hand in front of me. matched

And that's where this question of priority that you've that you've talked about comes in. matched

So you mentioned GE Moore and his response seems to have been roughly this, right? matched

There's a hand in front of me, I know it's there. matched

I don't see why I even need to engage your crazy scenario of brains in vats. matched

I take the priority to go a different way. matched

You need to show me that I have reason to worry in ways that I'm not worrying. matched

And so just to clarify, when you say begging the question, that means something like matched

taking what should be the conclusion of the argument and assuming it as one of the premises. matched

And I guess in those terms more is going to say that he denies that I know that here is a hand is the conclusion of the argument. matched
