Um, before I go through the, uh, mission and vision, like we always do, uh, I do want to, before we got started, I broke up a little party back here and apparently we have, um, some interns, Mr. Manager, would you like to, uh, introduce your interns so we can, uh, welcome them?

Uh, and the rest of the board, um, as a point of personal privilege, I want to share that I'm joined this afternoon.
by Mrs. Chair Sherman and Mrs. Olivia Stevens, who is two of our incredible young talents that we have added to the organization for the summer.
As part of our eight week long McPathway internship program, as many of you are aware,
MEC pathway currently in its fifth year is our premier internship program for our high school and college students geared towards exposing students to the endless career opportunities in the government sector.
Ms.
Chair Sherman is currently interning with the manager's office.
She's working with Lissette Nimmons.
as she works on her master's of public administration at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
And Ms.
Olivia Stevens is interning with our public health department, and she is a student at North Carolina Central University, where she is working on her undergraduate degree in biology.
These two individuals are part of 94 interns that are spread across 23 departments this summer.
Of the 94 interns, 45 are high school students, 44 are undergraduate students, and five are graduate students.
Our cohort this summer is made up of students from 18 colleges and universities.
This includes four HBCUs and 18 local high schools, of which 33% are designated Title I schools.
And since expanding the program to serve college students back in 2024, 75% of all eligible college seniors that went through the program were able to transition into full-time employment with this organization.
Fantastic.
And I gotta tell you, when I speak with our hiring managers throughout the organization, their preference is actually to go with our pathway students as opposed to some of the other candidates that they receive because they come in with a fresh mindset and they're willing to learn new trades and skills and they just do a phenomenal job.
