So, the sequel that no one was asking for to a film that most of us can't remember.

When DVD was a new thing, you and I both got sent a DVD player at the end of the 90s.

And one of them was Practical Magic.
That's how long ago it was.
Wow.
Precisely.
But honestly, that's how long ago it was.
In the time since the first film came out, an entire new format arrived, succeeded, and then became obsolete.
And now we have the sequel.
So the original was adapted from a novel by Alice Hoffman, directed by Griffin Dunn, and starred super hot pair Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock as the Owen sisters, modern day witches, with a family curse that will kill anyone that they fall in love with.
Film cost around 70 million, and I think in total took around 90.
So not a hit, although apparently over the years it's developed a cult following, partly because there is stuff going on in it, and partly because people, I think, discovered it on DVD.
Anyway, now...
All these years later, we have a sequel adapted from Alice Hoffman's 2021 novel, Book of Magic, the final book in the series, apparently, with screenwriters Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett, and Kelly Marcel.
Good.
