The script is by Mark O'Halloran, who co-wrote and starred in one of my favorite Irish movies, Adam and Paul.

If you're watching Everybody Digs Bill Evans, although the action plays out in New York and Florida, it is an Irish film production, as you said when you were talking to Bill Pullman about it.

Um, they play this near perfect gig and we begin with a musical number of them playing this piece and you watch him at his bassist sort of interacting on an absolutely intuitive level.
It's black and white visuals, moody, jazzy, get a lot of stuff, you know, looking at Scott LaFaro's hands on the bass strings and Evans's fingers on the piano.
There is the whole sense is that there is this bond between them.

Then what happens is that that number intercuts with a car crash, which kills the bassist.
