And in studies, you speak significantly higher, just in pitch, to perceive female babies than you do to perceive male babies.

And this is just absolutely habitual.
Everyone does it, and almost no one's aware of.
I once talked to a chair of my department who insisted that he treated male and female babies exactly the same.
And then I showed him the data, and he was just like, oh, sh**.
I guess I don't.
But that's the point.
I mean, these skills are internalized in such a way that you're not aware of what you're doing.
They're invisible to you, as it were.
