I kind of stopped thinking about it or worrying about it.
It kind of, it felt like it stopped being a problem in my early 20s.
And I thought it was because I started meditating a lot.
Like, I kind of convinced myself that.
What's interesting is when I stopped drinking, my ADHD got more severe.
And it turns out, like, I did some research on it, and it's like, yeah, it's like people with ADHD are, like, more likely to be alcoholics or something like that.
I don't remember the exact percentage.
Right, right.
And so it's, I was like, huh, yeah, maybe I was self-medicating to a certain degree.
Yes, there's a lot more awareness around it.
Built new adaptations, new habits.
I think I've come to terms a little bit more.
I mean, this is the tricky thing with emotions, like emotional patterns.
Like, it's not that they go away.
You just kind of...
make peace with them like they stop controlling you i think that's kind of kind of like what you go for i think the process here is you identify the adaptation right you break the adaptation you stop doing the old adaptation the key is you need to replace it with a new adaptation that
fulfills like can help you get your needs met in a similar way but then what's interesting and this this came up in the research for this episode is that that old adaptation never completely goes away it's almost like it just kind of gets written over by a new like a new piece of software or something it's patched yeah it's patched right and people like intuitively you've you've probably experienced this a lot like if you think about i don't know like emotional issues that you had when you were young
