You cannot devote 75% of your resources going after 9%.
A small subset of the illegal angling population.
It does not add up.
You have to shift your strategy from a quality base to a quantity base, just like Eisenhower did.
Look, when I spent 20 years in the FBI, we had a multitude of threats, counterterrorism, counterintelligence, public corruption, traditional violent crime, the list goes on and on.
Can you imagine if we told the public that we're going to take 75% of the FBI resources and only target one of the vast, complex threats that we have against this country?
That's absurd and it's ineffective, but that's essentially what's happening now.
So what I would suggest is we have to fundamentally change our strategy from that quality base to a quantity base, and we have to look and go after the core issues driving illegal immigration.
We have 1.5 million illegal aliens in this country with final orders of removal from a judge.
We should be aggressively and actively targeting them.
As well as the criminals, that's a given.
We have hundreds of thousands of visa overstays that we should aggressively target.
And the number one thing that we should target, work site enforcement.
We know the greatest incentive that drives illegal immigration is those coming here to work illegally.
We should be targeting those employers.
We should be prosecuting those employers.
And we should be aggressively targeting
targeting worksite enforcement.
