And in this scene, we follow Daniel as he goes through all of these precautions.
He's checking out the motel room, thoroughly looking for his exits, planning out strategies.
I wanted to convey that as early as possible about his personality.
He's very methodical about how he's been able to evade these creatures.
Like it's no accident that he's been able to survive so long.
He does take a lot of precautions.
He's mapping out the town.
I wanted to convey as much of that as I could in this first episode to.
To give the listener an idea of what sort of person Daniel was and how he operated in this strange world of shadows.
So introducing a couple of concepts here.
Firstly, introducing the bandana, which we know will come back later in the season and plays a very important role in this season.
And we're also setting up some of Daniel's character arc as well, how he feels so isolated.
Not just because he has to keep moving from town to town and he doesn't have time to establish any lasting relationships, but but also because he's the only one who really can understand the experience that he's having.
In this world of the shadows, no one else can see them, no one else would even believe that they're real.
And so that's just driving home the point of his isolation and his disconnection from the world around him.
And as we know, that's addressed later on in the season as events transpire.
This is all the beginning of his character arc.
