They used to have it in Oz, right?

Yeah.

They had national service and obviously the draft.

When I was at business school, there was a handful of people from different countries that came from systems that had that.

I think Korea was one.

Israel was definitely another.

And there were a few others.

But I remember him talking about the National Service experience.

And I think, I don't know what the research says about it, whether how effective it is or how it changes things.

But I mean, I'm biased because I've been through it.

I think it's a good thing because it teaches you

all the skills around resilience and teamwork and leadership and a sense of civic duty.

Yeah.

So they're all good things.

It's just like you were saying, the political capital needed to make it happen is so great that it just has never been surfaced.

But I don't know, depending on how the future goes, you might find yourself in a situation where it is desirable.

I think it should just be an expansion of that gap year.

If you actually offered that up and made it even more attractive, then it's a good exchange to have –

People delaying university by a year or whatever it is to do some service and they get paid well for it.
