People are going to die.

So that, I remember a few times seeing, I kind of, I'm in over my head here.

But after selection, if you get through, you do 18 months of further training, which is where you really develop into a proper athlete.

But yeah, the officer component, they take you aside, they get you to do a lot of planning, a lot of technically difficult missions when you haven't had sleep or anything like that.

And they're just trying to see whether you can come up with a plan in a short period of time, communicate it well and execute.

Yeah.

That's all they're looking for.

Oh, I remember seeing on day one, I was just like, there's a lot of capable people there.

They're not there, you know.

Yeah.

And I didn't go back twice.

I got it first time, but I've had mates who went back twice a few times and it just –

It's just bloody hard.

Not everyone gets there first time and injuries are common too.

So the first deployment was towards the end of our training.

The RSM came over and goes, hey, we're doing a job.
