Like Mark said, Super Rugby is not the strongest competition in the world anymore.
And that's why I think we should be selecting these players from overseas.
Why not open the door?
If overseas clubs want to pay these guys, isn't that good for us?
New Zealand rugby is not swimming in cash.
So if everyone else can pay for our players and we can select them out of competitions that are just as good as ours, I mean, I don't see the drawback.
Sure, we'll lose some players from Super Rugby, but we're losing them anyway, Martin.
So what's the point in not selecting them?
If they're a New Zealander, why not?
We do it in quite a few other sports, don't we?
Well, you'd hope not.
And we'd like to select a Tall Blacks team from the NBA, but the one guy there doesn't want to play for us.
But outside of that, you know, why wouldn't you?
It's a global competition.
Rugby is a global game.
It's been played all over the world.
We're not the best in the world anymore.
We don't have the best competition.
Other countries do.
They play differently, and to get players from each one of them would be beneficial to the All Blacks.
