So without Hamas disarming, it's very difficult to see any genuine progress occurring.
Certainly from Israel's point of view, it doesn't, no.
As long as there are Hamas gunmen in control in the Palestinian area,
area of gaza then nothing has changed as far as israel is concerned and it's a matter of time before that they will rebuild their destroyed tunnel infrastructure um manufacturing rockets and manufacturing drones and as long as hamas the military wing remains in power
then it's probably, unfortunately, just a matter of time before they get drowned.
Well, both sides have clearly are not carrying out the measures that were called for by the Trump plan.
Israel, as I said, has expanded its rule over Gaza, encroaching into the Palestinian areas.
And the Palestinians, critically, Hamas,
have not disarmed, which is the key element of the Trump plan.
Well, there are a number of different plans, some of them temporary and some of them more long-term.
What is required in Gaza is a massive reconstruction effort, which will probably take a decade.
And the idea is that these new cities will be built in areas that the Israeli forces will withdraw from.
And this will be the solution for the displaced Palestinians and hopefully providing them with a
some kind of hopeful future.
But as I say, it's all stuck at the moment and there's been no tangible progress on any of these fronts.
And even more worrying is the fact that the US administration, which came up with this 20-point plan for the moment, seems to have lost interest in Gaza.
It's obviously focused on the Gulf and the war there and what may be, as we just said, a resumption of hostilities there.
no one seems to be pressing either of the sides to move forward to a solution in Gaza.
