And to someone that may be listening that says, well, Dr.

Shepard, you said earlier that El Nino is a naturally varying climate system.

What's the problem?

It absolutely is.

But the problem with all of our atmospheric and oceanic processes right now is we have a varying climate system that has a human steroid on top of it.

And so it's not an either-or proposition.

It's and your grass grows naturally too, but when you fertilize the lawn, it grows differently.

And so we've got to move beyond the either-or narrative.

It is and.

And we have a big problem.
