Now, this year, he's been given an opportunity with the Jets.
Turned that into a move with the Sabres, and the way the Sabres were dealing with their group of six defensemen the last few weeks, it was never Metza and Kesselring as a third pair on the ice together at the same time.
It was always, okay, we'll put Dallin with Metza, we'll put Power with Kesselring.
They were trying to sprinkle them in.
Stanley and Kesselring played together the whole time.
It was not like, oh, let's give them reinforcement.
Lindy Ruff was like, this is my third pair.
They played over 11 minutes of five-on-five plus some special teams, so they were about 14, 15 minutes.
That's a good third pair, a big third pair right now.
Well, the reason they are where they are right now is that there's not one answer to that, O-Dog, but you look at their depth on forward, right?
So if you want to go Benson, Thompson, Tuck, and Norris with Doan and Oslin, then all of a sudden you got this line of Zucker, McLeod, and Quinn, and you look at them last night, Quinn has a hat trick, Zucker has another goal.
They've been really, really good and steady.
So it doesn't have to be Tate Thompson.
Now, he had an 11-game point streak going, so that's awesome.
And Alex Stuck's got a point streak going, and that's awesome, too.
But you can kind of go in with your top nine, right, your top three lines, and at any given night, like, somebody can step up.
